Summary
The Bill of Materials (BOM) Specialist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and validating product structures and engineering documentation to support manufacturing operations. This role makes non-routine decisions within established guidelines under limited supervision, performs intermediate troubleshooting and analysis, and interprets data using defined procedures. The position interacts frequently with cross-functional teams to provide information and occasional technical guidance.
Responsibilities
BOM Development & Documentation
This position is located in an active industrial manufacturing and distribution center with moderate to high noise levels, temperature variations, and material handling equipment in operation. The role may require extended periods of standing or walking on concrete floors and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses and steel-toed boots. The fast-paced environment involves time-sensitive and safety sensitive operations and may include various shift schedules to support production and distribution needs.

The position interacts frequently with cross-functional teams to provide information and occasional technical guidance.
Responsibilities
BOM Development & Documentation
- Transform product design specification sheets into accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing working documents.
- Maintain product structures and supporting documentation within ERP systems (e.g., MAPICS).
- Develop and sustain documentation for replacement parts and e-commerce platforms.
- Ensure engineering documents align with current manufacturing standards.
- Audit new and existing product specifications for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain engineering data integrity and ensure alignment with Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Investigate, approve, process, and distribute Engineering Change Orders (ECOs).
- Coordinate updates across systems and stakeholders to ensure accurate implementation of changes.
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and other teams to support new product launches, facilities, and process improvements.
- Provide training and guidance to global teams on BOM processes and systems.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, including parts standardization and engineering workflow enhancements.
- Support departmental and cross-functional projects to improve efficiency and data accuracy.
- Maintain reliable attendance and participate actively in team meetings and training.
- Provide backup support and assist in training other team members.
- Complete special projects and additional assignments as required.
- Associate Degree in Business Administration, Engineering Technology, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a business or manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and data accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration abilities
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement principles
