Full job description

This position requires a self-motivated, competent individual with a high energy level who is able to work alone or with others in a field environment. Job duties are below. This is not an all-inclusive list of job duties. Compensation is based on experience.

• Good mathematical, scientific, mechanical and logical reasoning skills
• High School GED or higher
• Pass a drug screen and background check

Primary Purpose:

• Lay out, fit and weld fabricated, cast, and forge components to assemble structural forms, such as buildings.

Typical Duties:

• Select equipment and plan lay out, assembly, and welding, applying knowledge of geometry, physical properties of metal machining weld shrinkage, and welding techniques
• Lay out, position, align and fit components together
• Bolt, clamps, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for welding
• Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment
• May repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torch, straightening press, and hand tools
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints
• Other tasks appointed by the Supervisor

Physical Requirements:

• Work easily and skillfully with hands
• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 lbs
• Climb and maintain balance on high ladders, scaffolds, and other elevated work platforms
• Stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, or crawl for extended periods of time
