Job Summary
The Capital Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight and management of capital projects across the NMHS healthcare organization. This role ensures that all capital initiatives—ranging from facility renovations and equipment installations to infrastructure upgrades—are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory standards.
This position will directly oversee and manage the Capital Buyer and the Capital Coordinator while working closely with clinical, financial and operational stakeholders within NMHS.
Acting as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders and external vendors, the Capital Manager leads cross-functional teams through all phases of the project lifecycle, including scope development, budgeting, negotiation, scheduling, procurement, implementation, and closeout. This role requires a deep understanding of healthcare operations, construction and equipment standards, and financial stewardship to ensure that capital investments support clinical excellence and operational efficiency.
The Capital Manager is also responsible for maintaining accurate documentation, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and internal policies. Proficiency in ERP systems and capital benchmarking tools is essential for tracking project performance, analyzing costs, and reporting outcomes to leadership.
This position demands strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously in a dynamic healthcare environment. - Lead cross-functional teams in planning, negotiation, execution, and delivery of capital projects.
- Develop capital project scopes, budgets, timelines, and resource plans.
- Monitor capital project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and internal policies.
- Collaborate with finance, facilities, clinical teams, and vendors.
- Utilize ERP systems and capital benchmarking tools for tracking and reporting.
- Identify and mitigate capital project risks and issues .
- Manage Capital team on daily tasks and duties.
- Adheres to NMHS/NMMC policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Complies with applicable local, state, and federal procedures, guidelines, regulations, and laws.
