JOB SUMMARYCertified Athletic Trainers (ATC) recognize and evaluate sports injuries. They provide first aid or emergency care; develop and carry out rehabilitation programs for injured athletes; and plan and implement comprehensive programs to prevent injury among athletes. Athletic trainers collaborate with medical doctors to provide emergency and follow-up care. They provide a vital communication link between the injured athlete, the physician, the coach, and the athlete’s family to determine when the athlete can safely return to practice and competition. | **JOB** **FUNCTIONS** | | --- | **Clinical:** * Provides athletic training services to area recreational groups, schools, and other organization as assigned * Assist with Saturday morning clinics * Assist with planning and implementing pre-season physicals for athletes * Remains competent in the following areas: * Modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrotherapy * Therapeutic exercise * First Aide * Attends and provides continuing education in servicing * Serves as mentor for new employee(s) or volunteers * Serves as clinical supervisor for student athletic trainers while completing their hours **Budget:** * Assist with maintaining an accurate inventory of sports medicine supplies and remaining within the monthly supply budget * Charges patients appropriately and in a timely manner for treatment and equipment **Other:** * Must be competent in use of computer for documentation and charging purposes * Must provide own transportation
