As a Performance Test Driver, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance for our vehicles and virtual testing environments. Your contributions directly impact the improvement of vehicle performance and help shape the future of automotive testing. By executing detailed tests and providing valuable feedback, you will be an integral part of a team committed to continuous improvement, innovation, and safety in the automotive industry.
What You’ll Do
- Perform and evaluate performance tests (objective, subjective, treadwear support) in the respective area (passenger, light truck).
- Prepare the vehicle and test environment: check and set up test conditions according to work instructions, manage tire mounting, and ensure proper vehicle maintenance and instrumentation.
- Execute tests on time, following instructions from the lead engineer/test scheduler, and provide timely support with tire changes when needed to maintain operations.
- Issue test reports within one day after test execution, documenting all findings and results.
- Adhere to and proactively improve safety procedures, ensuring that each test is conducted in a safe and compliant environment.
- Maintain and update data in performance testing databases, and communicate any tire behavior issues or process improvements to the team.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of testing procedures, work instructions, and quality systems.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong experience and understanding of performance testing, either in vehicles or virtual environments.
- A meticulous eye for detail and commitment to adhering to safety standards and quality systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and propose solutions quickly.
- Ability to work independently and manage your time efficiently to meet test deadlines.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement projects and technical initiatives.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to document test results and communicate findings effectively.
- A passion for continuous learning and the ability to bring new technical knowledge and expertise into your daily work.
- Availability for traveling up to around 50% of your working time
- Fluency in English and German
